Since the granules that protect the asphalt and the fiberglass mat comes off over time and end up in your gutter this shortens the life span of the shingle. Shingle roofs can withstand winds up to 130mph with some brands going as high as 160 mph. Shingles also come in a variety of colors and designs giving you the flexibility to still give you that curb appeal without breaking the bank.
